Ancient Kingdoms of the Himalayas

Centuries of history and culture converge among the highest mountains on earth. Discover the wonders of Bhutan, Nepal and Tibet on this single consummate odyssey.

Trip Overview
  • Meet centuries of Himalayan history and culture amid the highest mountains on earth.
  • Explore the monasteries, markets and temples of Kathmandu and Lhasa on intimate guided excursions.
  • Discover tiny, peaceable Bhutan, which measures quality of life in Gross National Happiness.

The cultural riches of Bhutan, Nepal and Tibet come to vivid life in this singular grand odyssey. Our journey begins in the “Land of the Thunder Dragon,” as Bhutan provides a gentle entree into a realm of sacred tradition and natural treasure. A rare holdout against the excesses of the modern, material world, Bhutan offers a paradigm of a different way to live. Kathmandu, equally intriguing though startlingly different, is a sensual kaleidoscope that shifts, seduces, jars and delights with every bend in its twisting medieval streets. A flight over Mt. Everest takes us into Tibet -- high, ancient, and proud; a land of monumental monasteries and people as generous in the stature of their hearts as the Himalayas are high.
