Custom Tibet
Journey across the Roof of the World, a revered land where prayer flags, sacred monasteries, and amazingly hospitable people define life in the shadow of the highest Himalayas.
Trip Overview
- Witness vibrant Buddhist history and traditions at ancient monasteries
- Explore Lhasa and its Potala Palace, home of the Dalai Lamas and an icon of Tibetan culture
- Travel overland on one of the highest roads on the planet from Lhasa to Kathmandu via Everest Base Camp
Often called the ‘Roof of the World,’ with an average elevation of 16,000 feet, Tibet is the largest and highest plateau on earth. Vibrantly Buddhist and the spiritual homeland of the Dalai Lama, Tibet is a land of stark beauty and remarkable people. Its monolithic Himalayan peaks feed some of Asia’s most important rivers. Among them, Mount Kailash is supremely sacred, the world’s most venerated holy place for four religions. Though politically part of China since the 1950s, Tibet was once an independent kingdom centered around magnificent monasteries, and its spiritual heritage remains deeply engrained in its psyche, as powerful as the limitless landscape that rises into the blue heavens above.
