EPIC Indochina Adventure
An entrancing journey through time and tradition in Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos
Trip Overview
- Discover the historic and natural treasures of Southeast Asia's most captivating destinations on this iconic odyssey
- Enjoy exclusive cultural encounters in vibrant cities and rural villages where rice farmers and hill tribes follow centuries of tradition
- Sail among the limestone islands of Halong Bay on a classic junk and cruise the Tonlé Sap aboard a traditional wooden motorboat
From the rice paddies of the lush countryside to the French colonial splendor of old Saigon, from Angkor Wat’s jungle-draped temples to the Buddhist treasures of Luang Prabang, this grand expedition across Southeast Asia encompasses every facet of this beguiling corner of the world. Journeying in the footsteps of Somerset Maugham, the great English chronicler of Indochina during the 1920s and ‘30s, we discover people and cultures that have captured travelers’ imaginations for centuries. The geography is equally captivating, as we traverse emerald mountains, verdant valleys and great bodies of water. Of course, our itinerary surveys every highlight – but we also enjoy a host of experiences available only to insiders. Engage in personal visits with local artists and monks, delight in a private water puppet show, explore the Cu Chi Tunnels with a Vietnamese war veteran, and create a fabulous lunch from local market ingredients under the tutelage of a celebrated chef, to name just a few of the exclusive opportunities available only to our EPIC Indochina guests. Location of Adventure Vietnam, Cambodia & Laos, Southeast Asia
Group Size Limit: Approximately 14 Travelers A very important feature of our Indochina expedition is the limited group size, as an in-depth cultural tour is best experienced with a small group of travelers.
Accommodations The hotels we have selected for our EPIC Indochina adventure tend to be among the most luxurious in the country, conveniently and comfortably placing our guests in wonderful areas for exploration. All have private facilities.
Included Airport transfers, accommodations, meals from breakfast Day 2 to breakfast final day (except dinners Days 8 & 19 and lunch Days 16), bottled water and soft drinks at meals and bottled water during activities, services of an Asia360° Travel Co. Expedition Leader and local guides, most gratuities, permits and entrance fees and all taxes.
Not Included Travel to and from start and end points of trip (Hanoi, Vietnam and Luang Prabang, Laos), internal flights, dinners Day 8 & 19 and lunch Day 16, alcoholic beverages, some gratuities, passport and visa fees, optional activities, items of a personal nature (phone calls, internet, souvenirs, etc.), required medical evacuation insurance, optional travel insurance, airline baggage fees and airport and departure taxes.
Physical Requirements Easy / Flexible This trip does not require a high degree of physical fitness, although a fair number of sight-seeing walks are involved, which may take place in hot and/or humid conditions. The itinerary also includes an easy bicycle ride through the countryside and several boat excursions. We stress that all activities are optional, and alternative activities may be available in some areas. Due to the vast area covered on our itinerary, our journey will involve several internal flights and some longer drives (4-hour range) over potentially bumpy surfaces. Practical Information Most temples require that you take your shoes off, so sandals that you can easily slip in and out of are helpful. Throughout the areas visited, particularly when visiting temples, it is respectful to be modestly dressed, with shoulders and knees covered.
Important Note Should traveler numbers be below a certain number, some activities and services, including the size of vehicles and the guiding service, may be altered to be more consistent with a smaller group.
Getting There & Getting Home You may arrive in Hanoi, Vietnam at any time on Day 1 of the itinerary. You are free to depart Luang Prabang, Laos at anytime on the final day of the trip. Your internal flights are not included in your trip cost and must be arranged and paid for separately at the time of booking. The Asia360° Travel Co.’s Travel Desk will assist you with these reservations.
