EPIC Mongolia Adventure
One of the last unspoiled places on earth, where nomadic culture has changed little over the centuries
Trip Overview
- Traverse an extraordinary palette of landscapes, from golden Gobi sands and Flaming Cliffs to crystal-blue Lake Khovsgol
- Get a taste of authentic Mongolian culture as you ride camels and horses, meet eagle hunters and reindeer herders, and overnight in classic felt gers
- Revel in the pageantry of Naadam Festival, Mongolia’s ancient national games featuring archery, wrestling and horse racing
You won’t find a more comprehensive exploration of Mongolia than this grand odyssey across the homeland of Genghis Khan. Meet one of the last nomadic cultures on earth, where a traditional way of life endures as it did a millennium ago. Just three million people inhabit a country the size of Western Europe, half of them still living in portable felt tents called gers and moving seasonally with their animals. Horses – long a centerpiece of Mongolian culture – far outnumber cars. There are no fences, few paved roads, not even a highway spanning the country. The sky is so vast that it arcs over the open steppe like a giant blue bowl. From the silent reaches of the Gobi to the lost imperial capital of Karakorum, come discover a land of legends. Mongolia’s mountains and monasteries, stark deserts and serene lakes, colorful cultures and unmatched hospitality are sure to enchant even the most seasoned world traveler.
Group Size Limit: Approximately 14 Travelers A very important feature of our Mongolia expedition is the limited group size, as an in-depth cultural tour is best experienced with a small group of travelers.
Accommodations We will be staying at the best available accommodations throughout our itinerary. In Ulaanbaatar we stay at the full-service Kempinski Khan Palace Hotel. While in the countryside, all accommodations will be in simple traditional ger camps, many of which offer shared bathroom facilities.
Included Airport transfers, internal flights, accommodations, meals from dinner on Day 1 to breakfast on final day, bottled water and soft drinks at meals and bottled water during activities, services of an Asia360° Travel Co. Expedition Leader and local guides, most gratuities, permits and entrance fees and all taxes.
Not Included Travel to and from start and end points of trip (Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia), alcoholic beverages, some gratuities, passport fees, optional activities, items of a personal nature (phone calls, internet, souvenirs, etc.), required medical evacuation insurance, optional travel insurance, airline baggage fees and airport and departure taxes.
Physical Requirements Moderate / Flexible Due to the vast area covered on our itinerary, our journey will involve several internal flights and longer drives (6-8 hour range) over unpaved roads and very bumpy surfaces in remote areas. There are short optional walks that may be 1-2 hours in length, as well as opportunities to ride both horses and camels. We stress that all activities are optional, and alternative activities may be available in some areas.
Important Note Should traveler numbers be below a certain number, some activities and services, including the size of vehicles and the guiding service, may be altered to be more consistent with a smaller group.
Getting There & Getting Home Arrive in time for the 7pm welcome dinner on Day 1. You are free to depart anytime on the final day. We can best serve you if Asia360° Travel Co.'s Travel Desk makes these reservations, as we are intimately familiar with the special requirements of these programs and can arrange the most efficient and cost-effective travel. Please call us at 1-877-ASIA-360.
