The Romance of Rajasthan with the Pushkar Camel Fair
This is the India of the imagination: explore forts, palaces and temples; ride a camel over desert dunes, watch the sun rise over the Taj Mahal.
Trip Overview
- Explore the architectural jewels of Rajasthan: sandstone forts, delicately carved temples, and marble palaces
- Witness the Taj Mahal at sunrise, floating like a pink mirage in the dawn sky
- Join the revelry at the Pushkar Camel Fair, Rajasthan’s most colorful festival
There is no more robust feast for the senses than India. The saturated colors of saris and sky; the clang of bells, bellow of cows, whir of rickshaws; the spiral of incense floating in golden temples; the pungent aromas of cardamom and saffron and ripe fruit wafting through the marketplace; a kaleidoscope of sight and sound, history and modernity, chaos and refinement. India seethes with intensity. To travel here is to concur with Mark Twain, “So far as I am able to judge, nothing has been left undone, either by man or nature, to make India the most extraordinary country that the sun visits on his rounds.” Rajasthan is India distilled, the India of the imagination, a storied land where the senses are engaged as never before.
